IMPORTANCE OF NSS
NSS stands for National Service Scheme. It is a student-focused community service programme that provides young people with opportunities to participate in social welfare and community development activities. NSS encourages students to understand the needs of society and contribute actively towards building a responsible, caring and socially aware nation.
NSS is based on the spirit of “Not Me But You”, which emphasizes selfless service and concern for others. Through various activities such as cleanliness drives, tree plantation, health awareness programmes, blood donation camps, awareness rallies and community outreach initiatives, NSS helps students develop a sense of social responsibility, leadership, teamwork and discipline.
Participation in NSS provides students with practical experiences beyond the classroom. It enables them to interact with communities, understand social issues and develop confidence, communication skills and a spirit of volunteerism.
